Description

This project focuses on the comprehensive modernization and rehabilitation of Esna’s eleven spillway gates, encompassing upgrades to control, monitoring, and operating systems, as well as extensive mechanical, civil, and structural works. The following scope of work outlines the key activities required to restore functionality, enhance efficiency, and ensure long-term operational reliability:

Mechanical Maintenance: Maintenance of all mechanical parts, gearboxes, and water leakage prevention components for the eleven spillway gates. This includes repairing or replacing damaged parts to rehabilitate all gates and improve their efficiency. The scope also covers dewatering and drying the gates’ basins, sandblasting, and epoxy coating.

Civil Operations: Comprehensive maintenance of the concrete walls and flooring of all spillway gates' basins. This includes sandblasting, crack treatment, and epoxy painting, with the provision of skilled labor and all necessary equipment.

Stop Log Maintenance: Maintenance of mechanical components and water leakage prevention parts for all stop logs. This involves repairing or replacing damaged parts to enhance operational efficiency. The scope also includes rehabilitation of the lifting scales for both upstream and downstream stop logs, as well as sandblasting and epoxy coating.

Control Unit Steel Structure: Construction of a steel structure for the control unit used to monitor and operate the spillway gates, in addition to full rehabilitation of the surrounding area to optimize space utilization.

Suspended Bridge Restoration: Restoration of the suspended bridge, the design of which was approved by a certified consultant and reinforced with additional steel to strengthen its structure. The bridge will be repaved with asphalt as part of the final project works.

All operations include scaffolding works, welding in accordance with AWS D1.1:2000 standards, and the execution of visual, magnetic, and ultrasonic welding tests.
